City of Vancouver (2006)
A Corporate Approach to Youth Services
The City of Vancouver has always been at the forefront of innovation with regard to child and youth services. For almost 20 years, the City has had an office directly focused on this demographic. The City’s Civic Youth Strategy was reviewed by YTA in 2001, and was subsequently revamped by the City.
However there are many other city boards and which are only loosely connected with the City and which have their own approaches: Library Board, Police Board and Park Board are chief among them. In addition, youth services are provided by a range of provincial and federal agencies.
The focus of developing a corporate approach to youth services was to undertake a comprehensive review, in conjunction with staff from all City departments and boards, of the City’s current approach to youth services, and to develop suggestions for rebranding and retooling.
